BMW PERSONAL COPILOT: AUTONOMOUS DRIVING.
By your side, when you decide.
In the future you will enjoy every trip in your BMW even more than today. After all, you will have the choice of whether you drive yourself and receive support from a driver assistance system or whether you allow yourself to be driven autonomously. Incidentally, all innovative driving technologies at BMW are pooled under one roof in the field of automated driving: the BMW Personal CoPilot driver assistance systems give you a taste of what is coming. In a future where driving with a BMW will become safer, more efficient and more exciting – so that every spent moment brings you pure relaxation.

AUTONOMOUS DRIVING – AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE.
THE INTERIOR OF A DRIVERLESS FUTURE.
The future will become home – because autonomous driving will not only fundamentally change mobility but also crucially affect the vehicle interior. Alongside your own home and workplace, the vehicle would rise to become the third largest living space, appealing to all five senses.
Participants in a survey on behalf of BMW have provided detailed sketches to describe what an interor oft he future would look like: as soon as you enter the car, you would be able to select your personal profile and thus choose between the settings for “Work”, “Relaxation” or “Family and Social Networking”. The interior would adapt to your individual preferences with all its functions, including lighting and sound atmosphere as well as climate control.
Alongside luxurious equipment and fittings with generous dimensions, equally enticing for both relaxation and work, awaits an intelligent interior without any buttons or controllers would await you. After all, you would be able to communicate with your self-driving BMW simply by means of speech, eye movement and gesture control. Regardless of whether you wish to view the latest news, take a health check-up or plunge into a completely different world by use of virtual reality.
AUTONOMOUS DRIVING TODAY.
The autonomous BMW test fleet is operating worldwide.
A common objective: visionary change. For some time now, the BMW Group has been working successfully on developments leading towards autonomous driving. At the centre of the research and development is a test fleet that comprises a total of 40 BMW 7 Series test vehicles covering thousands of trial kilometres at various locations worldwide, in order to master the highly complex requirements on the way to achieving production maturity.
Our test vehicles are currently able to drive in a highly and fully automated state – this means taking complete control of the vehicle while drivers can divert their attention elsewhere.
The aim of BMW is to enable autonomous driving within a pilot fleet in 2021 and to launch the first highly automated BMW production vehicle: the BMW iNext. This vehicle will be able to drive fully autonomously.
GEARING TOWARDS AUTONOMOUS DRIVING.
Leading the way with artificial intelligence.
Empty hands yet everything under control – your BMW will be able to respond safely, reliably and in a comprehensible manner to other drivers in all imaginable situations. By using artificial intelligence through ultra modern hardware and software, it will have the ability to master road traffic situations independently. Anticipatory driving means that every BMW travelling autonomously will significantly reduce the likelihood of accidents and, in an ideal case, avoid them entirely. After all, your BMW will be capable of learning and will guide you in a very relaxed manner through traffic jams and slow-moving traffic while consuming significantly less energy.
EXPERIENCE THE FREEDOM OF TOMORROW TODAY.
In many BMW models you can already enjoy the freedom of tomorrow. There are already numerous innovative partially automated assistance systems to offer you more safety and make your life more convenient. And not only during the ride but also when parking. Explore the benefits of these intelligent assistance systems and experience how much future technology a BMW already contains.

The values of fuel consumptions, CO2 emissions and energy consumptions shown were determined according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version applicable at the time of type approval. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers optional equipment and the different size of wheels and tires available on the selected model.
The values of the vehicles labeled with (3), are already based on the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to ensure the comparison between the vehicles. [With respect to these vehicles, for vehicle related taxes or other duties based (at least inter alia) on CO2-emissions the CO2 values may differ to the values stated here.]
The CO2 efficiency specifications are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the European Regulation in its current version applicable. The values shown are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle for the classification.
For further information about the official fuel consumption and the specific CO2 emission of new passenger cars can be taken out of the „handbook of fuel consumption, the CO2 emission and power consumption of new passenger cars“, which is available at all selling points and at https://www.dat.de/angebote/verlagsprodukte/leitfaden-kraftstoffverbrauch.html.
